Frostbite (Vampire Academy #2) by Richelle Mead

It’s winter break at St Vladimir’s, and a massive Strigoi vampire attack has put the school on high alert. This year’s trip away from the academy to the wintery peaks of Idaho has suddenly become mandatory.
But Rose’s troubles seem to follow her wherever she goes—dealing with the pain of knowing that her relationship with her tutor Dimitri can never be, things get even more complicated when one her closest friends admits his feelings for her.
The glittering winter landscape may create the illusion of safety but Rose—and her heart—are in more danger than she ever could have imagined...

*Remember there will be spoilers*

Chapter 11:
First sentence:
Lissa was up and gone before I even stirred the next morning, wgich meant I had the bathroom to myself while I got ready for the day.

So some changes is happening, Christian and Lissa are learning to use offensive magic from Tasha. Rose is also rude to Tasha because of what she learned about her wanting to be with Dimitri. They also hear of another Strigoi attack, but other than that not much else happens. except for Mason taking a snowball to the face from Eddie and some other novices from school, haha. Rose also kisses Dimitri and somehow Rose kind of says the he has a right to be jealous because "They're together" sort of.

But when I slept, I dreamed about Adrian Ivashkov.

Chapter 12:
First sentence:
I was out of bed in a flash.

This chapter starts with the guardian discussing the attack and Rose finds out that Mia's mom has been killed. After everything from Vampire Academy you would never think that you would say: Poor Mia. But that's the case here. However after going through that Mia is beginning to change. The attacks leads to them trying to figure out how to stop the Strigoi, one of the suggestions is to let Dhampirs fight when they're only 16, another is Tasha's suggestion that Moroi could also help fight the Strogoi, but yeah.. they don't like that even though she gives them a demostration.

While the guardians did what they did best, the Moroi also did what they - unfortunately - did best: talk.

Chapter 13:
First sentence:
People stood up and shouted, everyone wanting their opinion to be heard.

So that whole meeting pretty much turns into a disaster so Rose leaves. She then have an argument with Dimitri about the whole Tasha thing. Kind of loving it, know it'll be okay, but it's still really frustrating because you just know that they care for eachother. But then Rose leaves with Adrian to make Dimitri jealous (kind of sigh cause Adrian should be the first choice! But oh well..). Anyways, Adrian invites Rose and Lissa and the rest of the gang goes too to a pool party and they talk about going after the Strigoi.. not good.

Quote:
"Little dhampir," a voice suddenly said nearby.

Chapter 14:
First sentence:
Two guys I'd never met before were squaring off against each other.
Rose walks right into a fight, Mason too and they have to break it up. It's about the whole Strigoi thing of course. There's not that much happening in this chapter except the fight, Rose and Adrian talks and also Rose and Mia talks for a bit. Mia is interested in wanting to kill Strigoi.

Maybe the smartass in me regonized a kindred spirit.

Chapter 15:
First sentence:
I was trying to pain my toenails the next morning- not easy with such a god-awful hangover- when I heard a knock at the door.

Come next morning and Rose has gotten a gift from Adrian. Some perfume. One of his attempts to get her attention, awww!
Rose goes to Adrian's room to say that she doesn't want gifts and turns out that Lissa is there and then also Dimitri shows up in the hallway. I can already feel the jealousy coming from Dimitri, he he. I love how Adrian tells him that he should lecture him about underage girls, nice one Adrian. Then he goes kind of crazy for a moment there, spirit crazy (they just don't know it yet) and Lissa and Rose leaves his room. Rose also gets a small Zen-lesson from Dimitri and get to know some more about Strigoi and the attacks. And then Tasha shows up and Rose gets more jealous. After leaving them she runs into Mason. She makes out with him because she wants to forget Dimitri, but actually stops it because she keeps thinking of Dimitri.

Quote:
"Ladies, ladies," he said teasingly. "No need to fight over me."
Cute, Adrian.

Comments

  1. I must say I am appreciating characters like Adrian and Mason so much more this time round. I cannot believe we are flying through this book. Rose's is battling between being a teenage girl and being responsible and Mia is slowly becoming the great character we know she will be! Great post!
