Review "Obsession"

Obsession by Jennifer L. Armentrout

This is a stand alone novel that is an adult spin-off of the Lux Series You do not need to read a Lux book to read Obsession and vice versa.
He’s arrogant, domineering, and... To. Die. For.
Hunter is a ruthless killer. And the Department of Defense has him firmly in their grasp, which usually doesn’t chafe too badly because he gets to kill bad guys. Most of the time he enjoys his job. That is, until he’s saddled with something he’s never had to do before: protect a human from his mortal enemy.
Serena Cross didn’t believe her best friend when she claimed to have seen the son of a powerful senator turn into something... unnatural. Who would? But then she witnesses her friend’s murder at the hands of what can only be an alien, thrusting her into a world that will kill to protect their secret.
Hunter stirs Serena’s temper and her lust despite their differences. Soon he’s doing the unthinkable—breaking the rules he’s lived by, going against the government to keep Serena safe. But are the aliens and the government the biggest threats to Serena’s life… or is it Hunter?

My rating:

Yet another amazing, AMAZING book from Jennifer L. Armentrout.

This book actually had be rooting for the Arum! It shows a whole new side of them, and a really good side, Hunter. He might still be evil-ish, but damn can't really hold that against him cause it works. However Daemon were there to just remind who's side I'm supposed to on like 'hey remember me' but damn Hunter is just... wow.  He's not really evil like the other Arum we have met in LUX or anything so it's not that bad, although he still has that bad boy attitude that just makes him even more hot. He’s arrogant, domineering, and... To. Die. For.
Hells yeah he is!
I hope in the future Daemon and Hunter will have a lot more interaction, their bromance would be epic! They're kind of alike in a lot of ways and yet so far apart. Hunter is for sure "worse" (somehow I can't find it bad cause it love it) than Daemon with his attitude.
Hunter and Serena are so cute together. It kind of went from Hunter babysitting her to make sure she didn't reveal anything to him protecting her. Oh, and hot. Wowza they had some hot scenes - like you'll be reaching for something to fan yourself with. Also the whole not supposed to be together thing just makes it even more sweet and cute and so totally amazing when they do get together. And then it starts, Hunter doing everything for her and finally getting out of the DOD.
The book was in hers and his POV. I don't always like multiple point of views, really because I've read some bad ones where it just made the book more confusing and the POV really didn't make sense, but here it does since it's only Hunter and Serena and that's who the book is about. It's great to be inside both their heads and see what they're both thinking about in their situation.
Serena was a great character, too! Not whiny or anything considering what is happening to her here. She knew how to handle Hunter.
The book definitely made you see that all Arum are not bad and maybe all Luxen aren't all that good as we once thought.
What else can I say.. JLA has once again written an amazing book that has you reading through it in no time at all. Seriously wish it was longer, of course but are they ever really long enough when they're thát good.?! There was not one single boring moment in this book.
I wish there could be more books with Hunter and Serena, but at least we'll maybe see a bit of them in the last LUX books ^^ I really want to know how their story end.

Quotes

“Never in my life had I been more frustrated. Go figure it wouldn't be with a human but a freaking alien. At least I now knew that the male species were asses no matter what planet they hailed from.”

“Are you donne acting like a psychotic, cracked-out Muppet baby?" he asked, and I could tell by the way his fingers spasmed around my wrists, he really wanted to shake me. "Or do you need a couple more moments to return to sanity? I have all day. And you actually feel kind of good under me, so take your time.”

“Then in one fluid, unbelievably quick motion, he rolled off and stood. Jesus, the guy was part alien, part human, and part ninja.”

“Hunter smirked. "Nice to see you, too, Paris."Paris? All I could think of was Orlando Bloom and Brad Pitt.”
- Okay okay, this us just pure awesomeness! Troy reference! I love love love that movie so thank you for that ^^
