Throwback Thursday #38

Throwback Thursday is a bookish meme hosted every two weeks by me and Stephanie @Bookfever where we feature books that we've read in the past but are still crazy about. It could be a book you read as a child and still remember and love or maybe just a book that you haven't read in a long time and want to show your love for. Each week we'll be featuring a new random question to answer!

My pick this week:
Ascend by Amanda Hocking

Wendy Everly can barely remember what it was like to feel like a normal girl. She'd wished for her life to be different but everything is so much more complicated than she'd expected. And she certainly hadn't dreamt she'd be getting married at 18 to man she didn't love - all for the sake of duty.

One of the things I liked about this series that she actually doesn't end up with who you think so at first when you start the series. I liked that for once it was different and played out in a way that wasn't expected.

Quote:
“You just couldn’t wait to get me naked, could you, Princess?” Loki asked tiredly. I started to pull my hand back, but he put his own hand over it, keeping it in place.
“No, I—I was checking for wounds,” I stumbled. I wouldn’t meet his gaze.
“I’m sure.” He moved his thumb, almost caressing my hand, until it hit my ring. “What’s that?” He tried to sit up to see it, so I lifted my hand, showing him the emerald-encrusted oval on my finger. “Is that a wedding ring?”
“No, engagement.” I lowered my hand, resting it on the bed next to him. “I’m not married yet.”
“I’m not too late, then.” He smiled and settled back in the bed.
“Too late for what?” I asked.
“To stop you, of course.” Still smiling, he closed his eyes.”

Question of the week:

Any special books being read this christmas??

Well I have my mind set on reading a story or two in Let it Snow and I also want to read Jeaniene Frost's story in The Bite Before Christmas. Two great Christmas books. Other than that I plan on finding something, hopefully also Christmas related on my kindle, I'm sure there's something. Other than those I haven't really decided on what to read next actually so we'll see.

How about you?
Answer in the comment section! If you'd like to participate in Throwback Thursday you can add your post to the linky below. Feel free to add a favorite quote of the book you're spotlighting as well in your post. :)

Next Throwback Thursday question for January 15th:

What book did you just finish?

Throwback Thursday is going on a little holiday break, but it'll be back. Until

then, HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a

happy New Year.
