Blog tour: Review "Rockin' the Heart" + author Interview!

Rockin' the Heart by Gracen Miller.
If music nourishes the soul…
Loved by millions, but shunned by blood, Heath “Fang” Fangor has led his band, Hot Wired, to the top while others have fallen by the wayside. He devoted his life to music, and from that devotion harvested a new family—his band mates and fans.

A man can desire nothing else…or can he?
Living in the shadow of her brother’s fame sucks! Sam Collins is desperate to have what she wants—a simple and uncomplicated life. She’s no stranger to scandals and how they work. Now that she’s inadvertently dragged Fang into the center of her latest gossip, could the scandal she created in her quest for freedom have gone too far?

Amid stardom the heart stages a new melody…
Fang has more fame and fortune than he will ever need, but none of that matters if he can’t have the woman of his dreams. Years have been wasted waiting for the right moment to approach the woman his heart desires above all others. There’s just one major problem...she’s his best friend’s sister. To have her, he will have to risk it all.

One that might be responsible for Rockin the Heart!

*No major spoilers. If you want to know more, read that book. You will not regret it*

I am so grateful to be part of this blog tour and to have had the chance of reading Rockin' the Heart ^^
I simply just loved this book! Every single minute of it.
The day I started it before I knew it I had already read over a 100 pages and it was past 4 in the morning due to me not starting until it late that night. Made me kind of sad that I was already that far, less to read the next day -so damn, haha.
I loved the plot of the story with the guy being in love with the best friend's sister and her being in love with him. It adds a lot of fun drama to the mix and a lot of that "Oh no we can't do this" -back and forth between them and in this it was even "worse" since they all three were living under the same roof. The great thing was that it didn't at all turn out like I thought, it was even better! Sometimes in these situations there can a lot, even too much, back and forth between the two in love and in the end it gets kind of annoying, but that was not at all the case in this one, I actually liked that it seemed like they both knew pretty quickly that they had feelings for eachother and weren't gonna let anything get in their way, so for once it was nice to actually get a look into the relationship rather than the relationship happening in the end, like with most books. Of course that doesn't mean that there weren't problems that they had to figure out in order to get everything to work.
So, adding a hot rockstar to the mix of this makes it even better! I loved Heath "Fang" Fangor. Not only is he a freaking rockstar (lead singer I might add), but the guy reads! *swoon* And he knew what he wanted and went for it! Can't not love that!
Then we have Sam. At first you get the impression she's.. well a brat as Fang calls her, but still fun and really entertaining, but as the story moves along you find out her reasons for her actions and understand why she did what she did. With her relationship with Fang she grows up and learns to handle things differently.
Her brother Jase on the other hand I could get really annoyed with. I guess in some way he was the "bad guy" in all of this since he stood in the way of Sam and Fang's romance. I actually really liked when there were the chances to look into his mind and see his way of thinking and get things from his POV. Made me like him a bit more in the end of it.
The story moved along in a fast pace and were filled with hot and steamy scenes between Sam and Heath, rock concerts and crazy fans, drama and fights. All the good stuff and all of it well written.
Great plot. Check.
Great characters. Check.
All around a great read!
My only complaint... I wish it could have been longer ;)

(And keep reading for my interview with Gracen Miller)

Quotes:

"You're all I want, Sam. All I need. You're the chord that pluck my heart and create the music inside me. Without you I am a hollow man, lyrics without music, notes minus the beat." -Heath

"Brat, you stole my heart long ago. They never had a chance." - Heath

Interview:

*Me
*Gracen

Welcome to Booksane, Gracen! So happy to have you.

1. Who or what inspired you to start writing?
My 6th grade English teacher, Mrs. Syler, was the one that got me started writing with a simple homework assignment.

2. What was the hardest part of writing your books?
Setting aside dedicated time to write. There are a million different distractions and if I don’t disconnect from the matrix or set aside a particular timeframe, I tend to goof off.

3. What was one or more of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
Each book is different. With the Road to Hell series, I learned how dark I could write. There were times I had to rein in the writing and tone down the scenes. With Taboo Kisses I learned how kinky I could write. With Rockin’ the Heart, I learned I love writing contemporary romance as much as I do paranormal and erotic romances.

4. Do you have writer's block sometimes? If so, what do you do?
Unfortunately, yes. When I suffer from it, I gripe a lot and I also gorge myself on books. That helps clear my head and refocuses the creative side of my mind. Sometimes I won’t make it halfway through a book before I’m itching to write again.

5. Do you have an interesting writing quirk?
I don’t think so. The only thing you might think is quirky—definitely not interesting—is that I do a little meditation when I sit down to write. I’ll close my eyes, and take several deep breaths while asking my muse to help me. When I feel as if I’ve shut out the world enough to be creative, I open my eyes and get to work.

6. What was your favorite part to write in your latest book, "Rockin’ the Heart'?
I cannot even pinpoint one scene that is my favorite in Rockin’ the Heart. I wrote it in under two months, which is unheard of for me because I’m a slow writer. I’ve never written a book that fast. Some of the scenes that spring to mind that I love the most were the opening scene, the sex toy scene, the billiard scene, the first stage scene, and definitely the final scene.

I would have to agree, really hard to choose only one scene from this book, there were so many good ones!

7. Where did your inspiration for the book come from?
My girlfriends made me write it. LOL If they hadn’t kept nagging me to write a contemporary new adult romance, I probably never would’ve. Once I’d decided to try my hand at the genre, I used the basics of a story outline I’d drafted in my early twenties. It never amounted to much a decade ago, but I wrote a couple of chapters to a story about a girl who falls in love with her brother’s best friend. I found it about a month before I started writing Rockin’ the Heart. In some way or another, I’ve fantasized for years about a girl who grew up with a guy and falls in love with him. I don’t know why this particular daydream appeals to me, but it has and still does. I’d never written the storyline because it didn’t fit with my paranormal genre.

Big thanks to your girlfriends then!

8. Which character from any of your books did you enjoy to write the most?
Sam and Heath from Rockin’ the Heart. I suffered the worst book hangover after I finished writing the book. I wanted to just keep writing on them.

A close runner up would be Elias from the Road to Hell series. He’s so evil, and that makes him not only easy to write but fun too.

Gotta love the evil ones sometimes, haha.

9. Anything you would like to add?
I love getting to know my readers, so don’t be shy about friending me on Facebook or chatting with me if we’re already friends. Readers are my rock stars! And…a gal can never have too many book boyfriends. ;-)

Thanks for much for stopping by! ^^
Thanks for hosting me!

Gracen is a hopeless daydreamer masquerading as a “normal” person in southern society.  When not writing, she’s a full-time basketball/football/guitar mom for her two sons and a devoted wife to her real-life hero-husband. She’s addicted to writing, paranormal romance novels, movies, Alabama football and coffee…addictions are not necessarily in order of priority. She’s convinced coffee is nectar from the gods and blending coffee and writing together generates the perfect creative merger. Many of her creative worlds are spawned from coffee highs.
