Re-readathon: Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead chapter #16
To keep up with our goal of re-reading more of our favorite books this year and re-discover them we created this challenge for ourselves to help accomplish that goal. We will be reading one chapter each day and also doing a blog post about the chapter, going into detail about each chapter in the book. We decided to start our re-read with Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead.

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...
Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

Chapter 16:
First sentence:
The next day, it fully hit me how much things had changed since the Jesse-and-Ralf rumors first started.
In this chapter we see how Lissa getting in with the royals has changed for Rose. There's still a bit of laughter and she even get defended by the royals. Overall not a lot pay it a lot of interest anymore since Lissa and Aaron getting back together is more interesting to them (so awful. Poor Chirstian). Rose not wanting to sit around and stare at Lissa and Aaron make out, unlike Christian, she leaves lunch early to go talk to Ms. Camack, who teaches elemental basics. She wants to ask her about if St. Vladimir ever specialized for one and also in the end she asks if Ms. Karp ever did specialize, which she didn't of course.
After getting more questions answered about St. Vladimir the similarities between him and Lissa becomes more and more obvious.
Later on Rose talks to Lissa asking her to give up what she has going on with the royals, she also tells her about St. Vladimir and how Ms. Karp and him can both heal and use compulsion and the fact that St. Vladimir tried to kill himself and Rose also noticed scratches on Ms. Karp- and we know that Lissa also cuts herself and saying it's the only way to get it out. The conversation ends with Lissa saying she won't heal or use compulsion anymore.
And also at the end of their conversation Rose kind of gives Christian a complimnt- How he's not boring like Aaron. Yay Rose! Finally realizing that he is not bad news at all.
Rose is on her way to training when she walks past Christian and even though she's late she stops to talk to him. In that conversation Rose admits that he's good for Lissa and she apologizes. We also hear a bit more about Christian's parents and what happened with them.
Totally a bonding moment between Rose and Christian. Loved it!
So, a lot happend in the chapter, Rose is really moving along with her St. Vladimir-Ms. Karp-Lissa connection and getting more insight into it. Also Rose and Christian sort of making up and becoming... well not friends, but maybe hate eachother a little less. Rose has realized that he's not bad for Lissa and that's what matters.
Quote:
My snarky switch flipped on. "What are you, an afterschool special?"A ghostly smile flickered across his face. "If you weren't so psychotic, you'd be fun to hang around." "Funny, I feel the same about you too."He didn't say anything else, but the smile grew, and he walked away.
Just, aww. They're so bonding now.
Same quote again. Of course. :')
