Re-readathon: Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead chapter #11

To keep up with our goal of re-reading more of our favorite books this year and re-discover them we created this challenge for ourselves to help accomplish that goal. We will be reading one chapter each day and also doing a blog post about the chapter, going into detail about each chapter in the book. We decided to start our re-read with Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead.

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

Chapter 11:
First sentence:
"You need something to wear?" Lissa asked.

The chapter we start with seeing Mia sweat a bit over the whole her parents are servants thing, not so cocky now, huh Mia?
Since it's All Saint's Day there's an assembly where Queen Tatiana will attend. Rose isn't too excited about the event other than the fact that it means she will allowed to leave her dorm for once without it being for school or training.
Rose heads to practice with Dimitri and there's a great moment for them! At first it's a pretty normal work out, but now with Rose learning how to fight, of course she can't really beat Dimitri and as he turns around she leaps on his back, but before she knows it he has her pinned down on the mat. Really hot intense moment for them. Rose also tells how he has kept looking at her, studying her since that night in the lounge and sometimes he would smile and how she some days lived for those smiles. So cute. Their attraction is really starting to get more intense.
Next is at assembly. When entering the queen stops and talks to Lissa, first saying she's sorry for the loss of her parents and brother and then lots of stuff about her name and how she is named with power- then she throws out that a name does not make a person. As Rose said, verbal slap and then the queen walks on. As soon as she can Lissa goes outside. Natalie is really great in that moment and tries comforting her before Rose steps in. Mia also shows up outside and has to be a total bitch, if Dimitri hadn't shown up to take Rose back to her dorm, Rose would probably had hit Mia or something.
Now the bad part.. on the way back Rose sees Christian.... and then.. well she's a total B****! I can't believe she would say that to him! Makes me so mad at her! She might be trying to protect Lissa well Rose, Christian could have made her feel better ever thought about that, huh. Poor Christian..

The more I watched him in action, the more I understood the badass-god reputation.

Comments

  1. I loved the moment Rose & Dimitri. A slow burn crush turned love. Mia really grates my nerves while she is being such a silly stuck up mean girl and my heart aches when Rose is so mean to Christian. Great points and post Christina :)
