Re-readathon: Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead chapter #23

To keep up with our goal of re-reading more of our favorite books this year and re-discover them we created this challenge for ourselves to help accomplish that goal. We will be reading one chapter each day and also doing a blog post about the chapter, going into detail about each chapter in the book. We decided to start our re-read with Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead.

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

Chapter 23:
First sentence:
I'd never had so much trouble staying out of Lissa's head before, but then, we'd never been through anything like this together either.

Rose and Christian are chasing Lissa, Christian is slower since he doesn't have the same training as Rose- Dimitri put her through all of that for a reason. Christian also tells her to run ahead, he knows they need to get her. Ahh my love for him only grows it seems.
So of course it has to get worse... Psi-hounds. Rose also suddenly realises that the psi-hounds after her and Lissa on the run.. They were Victors.
Rose distract the psi-houns, since like other animals, they're not too happy about Dhampirs, all that matter is that they get away from Lissa. The psi-hounds go after Rose and they start fighting. Christian arrives and starts fighting them as well and one of them jumps him. Oh noes! Lickily Alberta comes and saves them by shooting the hounds. Really awesome, but Christian is hurt... badly. Lissa can't heal him since she's too weak so Rose lets her feed from her so she can heal Christian. So yay Christian is okay! Rose passes out afterwards and doesn't wake up until she's back at the Academy in the clinic. We speed up a bit and life kind of returns to normal, with some changes of course. Lissa FINALLY starts dating Christian!
Rose and Dimitri.. Well things are a bit weird with them since they haven't been alone and been able to talk about what happened between them.
So when they finally get alone to talk about it.. wow. Dimitri gives the "I'm too old for you... blah blah blah"- speech and he also says he doesn't feel thát way about her. As if! So of course Rose isn't really happy after that.
She wants answers since she thinks it was the necklace that made Dimitri do all the things so she goes to Victor who's in the Academy cells.
And well good news, he tells her that there had to be feelings there otherwise it wouldn't have worked, so it just confirms that Dimitri was totally lying.
Can't be happy too long so that's when Natalie shows up... and as a strigoi. Really a dum dum duuuuuum moment!

Comments

  1. What an exciting chapter! So much happened. I didn't actually realise the first time that Christian was so badly injured. So glad Lissa and Christian are finally together.

    Great post!
