Re-readathon: Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead chapter#6

To keep up with our goal of re-reading more of our favorite books this year and re-discover them we created this challenge for ourselves to help accomplish that goal. We will be reading one chapter each day and also doing a blog post about the chapter, going into detail about each chapter in the book. We decided to start our re-read with Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead.
Co-hosted by Stephanie @ Bookfever & me!

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

Chapter 6:

First sentence:
As much as Lissa and Christian's meeting bothered me, it gave me an idea the next day.

This chapter was pretty entertaining with Rose finding a way to spend more time with Lissa... church. House arrest can't be fun so yeah no wonder she finds a way to get some more freedom. This chapter offered more on the Dhampir- Moroi relationship. How it works and everything with guardians and so on. Also it was a bit ironic how Rose told how a long-term relationship between Dhampirs were a disgrace.
Rose gets "homework" with her home from church after asking about shadowkissed Anna and St. Vladimir and how they were shadowkissed. Of course their relationship sounds familiar to what Lissa and Rose have with how Anna can know what's in Vladimir's heart and mind.
Mason also appears at the end and I love his and Rose's interaction, so great!
A really great chapter with a lot more information about Dhampirs and Moroi.

Quote:

"You said that whenever I'm not in class or practice, I have to stay in the dorm. But what about church on sundays? I don't think it's really fair to keep me away from my religious... um, needs." Or deprive me of another chance - no matter how short and boring - to hang out with Lissa. She pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose. "I wasn't aware you had any religious needs." "Is found Jesus while I was gone."

  1. I so happy to see you noticed Rose's dedication to the guardianship thing. Yes it is a bit ironic about the long-term relationship view from Rose, I suppose she just handles it better later on. I really enjoyed seeing the different sides of Rose in this chapter: Her protectiveness of Lissa, Her short temperament with Mia and her fun-flirty-friendly side with Mason. The shadow-kissed & spirits parts were a great part of this chapter for me :) Lots of ground work in this chapter!
