Re-readathon: Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead chapter #13

To keep up with our goal of re-reading more of our favorite books this year and re-discover them we created this challenge for ourselves to help accomplish that goal. We will be reading one chapter each day and also doing a blog post about the chapter, going into detail about each chapter in the book. We decided to start our re-read with Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead.

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

Chapter 13:
First sentence:
The aftermath of Jesse and Ralf's lies was about as horrible as I'd expected.

After the lies about Rose she's struggling, people are staring and talking about her and all she can do is ignore them. She doesn't eat or sleep well, but she's still more worried about Lissa. Lissa is planning to win over the other royals and turn them against Mia after the rumors about Rose. Rose decided to slip into Lissa's mind to see what's going on exactly. First Lissa uses compulsion to get them convinced that what her and Rose did with Rose feeding her isn't a big deal and also that Jesse is lying. After that Christian shows up and he as ever sees right through it, and finally FINALLY Rose is warming just little little bit towards Christian. But only a little.
The next day when Rose is at training with Dimitri there's a really great moment between them. Her hands has suffered from the cold and everything so he treats them and while doing so they talk, we learn about Dimitri's family- his mom a blood whore and how his dad beat his mother so when Dimitri was 13, he beat up his dad.
I really liked this moment between them, they get to know eachother a little better and you can tell that Dimitri definitely also has some feelings for Rose that goes beyond training her.
A really good chapter, mostly because the cute moment Rose and Dimitri.

He hesitated for a moment and looked up from my hands. Those warm brown eyes surveyed me, and something tightened in my chest. Damn it. I had to stop feeling this way around him.

  1. This was a really sweet chapter. I think Rose is really strong to get through all the rumors in silence and the fact that she still puts Lissa first. the moments between R&D as well as L&C were so sweet! I love it when we get a little background on the characters we love. A short and sweet chapter <3
